Role Summary

  • The Data Architect will serve as the on-site data and identity authority for Salesforce Data Cloud implementation, owning end-to-end data architecture across data ingestion, data modeling, semantic layer, identity resolution, privacy/consent enforcement, and downstream activation readiness.
  • This role is critical to ensuring that the Data Cloud foundation is laid out while aligning with Client’s governance, MLR, and privacy guardrails.

Key Responsibilities

1\. Data Architecture \& Foundation Ownership

  • Own the overall Data Cloud architecture design across source ingestion, DMOs, relationships, semantic layer, and activation readiness.
  • Translate business and clinical requirements into scalable, compliant Data Cloud data models.
  • Define and govern standard vs. custom DMOs, relationships, and extensibility patterns.
  • Ensure environment parity across DEV / QA / PROD and alignment with CI/CD guardrails.

2\. Source System Strategy \& Ingestion Design

  • Lead enterprise data source inventory, including profiling, normalization strategy, and data contract definitions.
  • Design ingestion patterns from platforms such as Databricks and upstream clinical/operational systems.
  • Define data quality benchmarks, monitoring strategy, and ingestion reliability controls.
  • Ensure ingestion latency and freshness support downstream real-time and calculated insights.

3\. Identity Resolution \& Clinical Data Integrity

  • Architect and configure identity resolution strategies, including deterministic and probabilistic match rules.
  • Partner closely with clinical and compliance stakeholders to validate identity merges and reconciliation rules.
  • Lead identity match validation cycles and support clinical signoff processes.
  • Define and govern “sendable profile” criteria supporting compliant activation.

4\. Privacy, Consent \& Regulatory Enforcement

  • Work with governance and compliance teams to classify PHI / PII data elements.
  • Architect consent ingestion, interpretation, and enforcement rules within Data Cloud.
  • Ensure retention policies, access controls, and consent logic are embedded into the data model.
  • Support MLR and governance checkpoints by providing data lineage and traceability artifacts.

5\. Semantic Layer \& Activation Readiness

  • Design and own the semantic layer, including canonical definitions, glossary, and dictionary publication.
  • Ensure consistent semantics across Insights, Data Actions, triggers, and SFMC activations.
  • Validate semantic consistency during SIT and E2E testing.
  • Partner with SFMC and activation teams to ensure Data Actions and triggers are data-safe and deterministic.

6\. Insights Architecture (Real-Time, Streaming, Calculated)

  • Design data structures supporting real-time, streaming, and calculated insights.
  • Ensure insight definitions align with trigger timing, frequency caps, and suppression rules.
  • Support validation of insight accuracy, freshness, and performance prior to Go Live.

7\. Delivery Leadership \& Onsite Collaboration

  • Act as the primary onsite data authority for Client stakeholders (IT, clinical, compliance, marketing).
  • Drive architectural decisions during sprint planning, design reviews, and milestone gates.
  • Provide clear guidance to offshore data engineers and SFMC teams.
  • Support SIT, UAT, Go Live readiness, and structured knowledge transfer to Client FTEs.

Required Skills \& Experience

Core Experience

  • 10\+ years in enterprise data architecture, with recent Salesforce Data Cloud experience.
  • Proven experience delivering regulated healthcare/life sciences data platforms.
  • Strong background in identity resolution, consent management, and PHI/PII handling.
  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce Data Cloud DMOs, identity rules, insights, and Data Actions.

Technical Expertise

  • Salesforce Data Cloud (DMOs, Identity, Insights, Semantic Layer).
  • Cloud data platforms (Databricks or equivalent).
  • Streaming \& real-time data concepts.
  • Data quality, lineage, and observability.
