What are we looking for?
SoftPro is seeking a
Scrum Master
in our
Raleigh, NC
office or as a remote employee. If you are a remote employee, you must be willing to work East Coast hours. The Scrum Master is a servant leader responsible for guiding and supporting Agile teams in the effective use of Scrum practices to deliver high-quality, predictable products efficiently. The Scrum Master enhances team predictability and fosters a psychologically safe, collaborative environment by facilitating Scrum ceremonies, removing impediments, and supporting high‑performance teamwork. This role partners closely with Product Owners, development teams, and stakeholders to ensure alignment, transparency, effective delivery and continuous improvement.
What will I do as a Scrum Master at SoftPro?
- Facilitate Scrum ceremonies—including daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives—ensuring they are productive, time‑boxed, outcome‑focused, and supported by effective collaboration and communication.
- Guide the team in applying Agile and Scrum values, principles, and best practices, tailoring guidance to the team’s specific needs.
- Support the Product Owner in managing the product backlog through backlog refinement, prioritization, and clarity of requirements, while also ensuring requirements are clear, ready, and established to support predictable sprint commitments, and helping establish meaningful, business‑aligned sprint goals.
- Remove impediments and proactively identify, communicate, and escalate risks and dependencies, coordinating with other teams when cross-team blockers or sequencing issues arise, to ensure smooth, predictable delivery.
- Manage competing priorities and leverage key Agile metrics (such as velocity) to support delivery transparency, forecasting, and team performance.
- Foster cross‑functional teamwork, knowledge sharing, and open communication, while cultivating a positive team culture where members feel valued, empowered, and take ownership.
- Maintain visibility of work using tools such as Azure DevOps, including sprint backlogs, burndowns, and dashboards.
- Support the team in meeting sprint commitments and consistently delivering high-quality increments, while reinforcing delivery discipline such as clear definitions of ready/done, healthy story slicing, and consistent work visibility.
- Drive continuous improvement by helping the team identify actionable enhancements and establish standards that reinforce accountability and support more predictable delivery outcomes.
- Support the team in embracing transparency, inspection, and adaptation, strengthening their practices, productivity, and self‑organization.
- Serve as a liaison between technical and non‑technical stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives and clear communication across teams.
What will I need to be successful as a Scrum Master at SoftPro?
- A Scrum Master certification from a recognized organization, e.g. Scrum Alliance.
- Preferred 5\+ years of experience as a Scrum Master working with multiple teams simultaneously.
- Preferred experience with teams developing cloud based software as a service solutions.
- Knowledge and experience with Agile planning tools.
- Strong understanding of Agile frameworks.
- Excellent facilitation, communication, organization, and conflict‑resolution skills.
- Ability to support individuals and teams at various stages of Agile maturity.
- Strong mid-level candidates with proven delivery awareness and solid Scrum fundamentals are encouraged to apply.
