Senior Accountant / Accounting Supervisor - Remote

Upwell Water is the leading tech-enabled water resource and infrastructure company. That capital enables development, construction, financing, and liquidity for water-related businesses and assets, from treatment plants, to pipelines, to farms with water assets, to infrastructure and equipment.

Ideal candidate is an organized, detail oriented, motivated individual who is interested in becoming a valued team player with the ability and inspiration to make a significant contribution to a growing, innovative, unique company. The position requires the ability to collaborate with a diverse team and prioritize the demands of a fluid set of tasks. This position reports to the Chief Accounting Officer with primary of function of assisting with various aspects of managing the accounting and financial reporting functions for a growing investment platform.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial supporting documentation and transactions for entities
  • Assist with audit and tax support
  • Assist with managing and preparing certain compliance filings
  • Follows company procedures and controls for payments by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices.
  • Process invoices for scheduled payment using detailed matching of various information in electronic format from various internal and external sources.
  • Resolving contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation with various internal and external sources.
  • Ensure proper approvals for invoices and payments are obtained and documented.
  • Charges expenses to accounts by analyzing invoices and expense reports.
  • Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
  • Initiate weekly payment process by identifying invoices to pay through monitoring invoice due dates.
  • Ensures credit is received for outstanding memos.
  • Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions
  • Maintain historical records (filing and document management).
  • Respond to vendor enquiries
  • Preparing analyses of accounts and produce reports
  • Prepare 1099s
  • Perform new vendor set up, maintenance and communications
  • Work with confidential information securely and maintain the confidential nature.
  • Communicate with manager on status and issues related to areas of responsibility.
  • Assist with data entry or report generation for operations TBD
  • Other responsibilities and tasks assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 5 years experience
  • Experience with various accounting software
  • Experience with financial transactions for 5\+ entities, verticals, or locations
  • Ability to “own” tasks assigned
  • Accurate and efficient data entry skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to analyze information
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Excellent time management, organization, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to maintain high degrees of accuracy, reliability, and manage multiple tasks with flexibility
  • High degree of ethics, integrity, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and grammatical communication skills
  • Positive attitude with a professional, courteous, customer service demeanor
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, taking direction well
  • Must be able to comply with all company policies
  • Reliable remote internet connection
