Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented
Business Analyst
with hands-on experience in the reinsurance or broader insurance domain. In this role, you will act as the bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams, translating complex reinsurance processes treaty, facultative, and proportional/non-proportional structures—into clear, actionable requirements. You will leverage SQL extensively for data validation, root-cause analysis, and reporting, ensuring high data quality across ceding, claims, and premium accounting workflows.
Key responsibilities
- Gather, document, and validate business requirements for reinsurance systems (treaty \& facultative).
- Write and execute complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, reconciliation, and gap analysis.
- Prepare BRD, FRD, user stories, use cases, and process flow diagrams for development and QA teams.
- Perform detailed analysis of premium bordereaux, claims bordereau, and cession statements.
- Collaborate with actuarial, finance, and IT teams to support pricing, reserving, and regulatory reporting.
- Conduct UAT, develop test scripts, track defects, and ensure business sign-off.
- Build and maintain dashboards/reports in Excel, Tableau, or Power BI for management reporting.
- Support data migration, system integration, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Facilitate workshops, sprint planning, and stakeholder review meetings (Agile/Scrum environment).
Required skills \& qualifications
- 8 years
of experience as a Business Analyst in reinsurance, insurance, or financial services.
- Strong proficiency in
SQL
– joins, subqueries, window functions, stored procedures.
- Good understanding of reinsurance concepts: treaty types, retrocession, IBNR, loss ratios, combined ratio.
- Experience writing BRD/FRD documents and managing requirements traceability.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodology and tools like JIRA or Confluence.
- Proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, advanced formulas) and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, IT, Finance, or related field.
Good to have
- Exposure to reinsurance platforms such as Majesco, SAP FS-RI, SAPIENS, or Guidewire.
- Knowledge of IFRS 17 / Solvency II reporting requirements.
- Experience with Python or R for data analysis.
- Tableau, Power BI, or Qlik Sense dashboard development.
- Insurance certifications: ACII, LOMA, III, or equivalent.
