About the role

We are looking for a Senior Coordinator – Contracts to provide critical support to our maintenance and project execution teams. In this role, you will help coordinate and oversee a diverse portfolio of capital and operational projects at the Refinery.

Partnering closely with site project managers, you will help align and coordinate project activities across the refinery portfolio, balancing operational priorities while championing safety, quality, and best operating practices. You will play a key role in creating an environment where people feel supported to do their best work and where projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and with care.

This role is pivotal to the successful delivery of maintenance and sustaining capital projects. Reporting to the Superintendent – Refinery Maintenance, you will contribute to outcomes that prioritize safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance, oversight, and coaching related to contractor management and Designated Leader accountabilities across the team and site portfolio.
  • Offer visible, front‑line leadership and assurance for project execution activities, promoting a strong safety and quality culture.
  • Support project managers throughout all phases of the project lifecycle, including study, procurement, planning, execution, handover, and closeout.
  • Collaborate with peers across operations and maintenance to develop, protect, and deliver a rolling three‑week plan.
  • Identify and drive improvement initiatives within the project portfolio that enhance safety, efficiency, and quality outcomes.
  • Independently lead and manage external service providers in the execution of small‑ to medium‑scale maintenance and repair projects.

  • Technical Experience: Approximately 10\+ years of experience in industrial maintenance and/or project execution environments, including several years in a supervisory or equivalent leadership role.
  • Project Management: Familiarity with the full project management lifecycle, with the ability to independently lead smaller projects.
  • ProblemSolving Skills: Ability to navigate complex challenges, analyze information thoughtfully, and develop practical, innovative solutions.
  • Leadership \& Influence: Confidence influencing and coaching others—regardless of formal authority—to foster accountability, collaboration, and positive outcomes aligned with our values.
  • DecisionMaking: Comfortable making informed decisions within delegated authority and knowing when to seek guidance or partnership.
  • Safety \& Compliance: Working knowledge of applicable regulations and standards (such as OSHA, MSHA, API, ASME, NFPA, ANSI), with a strong commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and high‑quality work environment.

Where you’ll be working

Our Kennecott mine is a world-class, fully integrated copper mining operation, including a concentrator, smelter and refinery, located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States. We produce copper, precious metals including gold and silver, molybdenum, tellurium and sulfuric acid. Kennecott has been mining and processing minerals from the rich ore body of the Bingham Canyon Mine since 1903 and is one of the top producing mines in the world, comprising approximately 11 percent of U.S. annual copper production.
