About the Role

The Senior Data Architect owns the design, structure, and performance of our enterprise data platform, with Snowflake at the center.

This role will lead the evolution of our current data environment into a scalable, governed, high-performance platform that supports operational reporting, analytics, and future AI and machine learning use cases. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, able to define architecture standards, improve existing data models and pipelines, and guide internal teams and external partners toward a cleaner, more efficient data ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Snowflake Architecture \& Optimization — 25%

Own the design and ongoing refinement of the Snowflake data platform.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and ongoing refinement of our Snowflake data platform
• Evaluate and improve our current Medallion architecture across Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers
• Reduce unnecessary complexity in view-heavy designs and implement persisted structures where they
• improve performance, usability, and maintainability
• Optimize Snowflake performance, storage, and compute usage for scalability and cost efficiency

Data Modeling \& Standards — 20%

Define and enforce enterprise standards for data modeling and structure.

Responsibilities:

• Define and enforce enterprise standards for data modeling, naming, transformations, lineage, and quality
• Design logical and physical data models that support reporting, analytics, and downstream application needs
• Determine when to use star schemas, dimensional models, normalized models, or curated data
• products based on the use case

Expectations:

• Creates consistent and scalable data structures
• Aligns models to business and reporting needs
• Improves clarity and usability of data

Data Integration — 20%

Design and optimize data pipelines across core systems.

Responsibilities:

• Architect and optimize data pipelines that ingest and transform data from systems including AS/400,
• MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle/NetSuite
• Partner with internal teams and third-party vendors to ensure consistent, reliable, and scalable data movement
• Help establish a unified source of truth across core business systems

• Reduces inconsistencies across systems
• Improves data availability and trust

SQL Performance \& Platform Governance — 15%

Ensure performance, reliability, and governance of the platform.

Responsibilities:

• Review and optimize complex SQL transformations and query patterns
• Establish best practices for warehouse sizing, workload management, clustering, micro-partitioning, and dynamic tables
• Design access patterns and governance controls that support both security and practical business use

Expectations:

• Improves query performance and efficiency
• Establishes clear governance standards
• Balances security with usability

AI / Advanced Analytics Readiness — 10%

Prepare the platform for advanced analytics and future use cases.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare curated datasets and architectural patterns that support predictive analytics, data science, and emerging AI use cases
• Improve data accessibility, consistency, lineage, and quality so that analytical and AI initiatives can be built on a trusted foundation

Expectations:

• Supports future analytics and AI initiatives
• Improves data quality and accessibility
• Builds a strong foundation for advanced use cases

Technical Leadership — 10%

Provide architectural leadership and direction across teams.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the internal architectural lead for Snowflake and enterprise data design
• Provide oversight and technical direction to internal developers, analysts, and external consulting partners
• Mentor team members and raise the overall maturity of the organization’s data practices

Expectations:

• Leads with technical credibility
• Guides teams toward better data practices
• Improves overall data maturity

Qualifications

• 8\+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related senior technical roles
• Strong hands-on experience designing and optimizing Snowflake environments in production
• Expert-level SQL skills, including performance tuning of complex transformations and queries
• Deep understanding of Snowflake architecture, including micro-partitioning, clustering, dynamic tables, and cost and performance optimization
• Strong background working with relational source systems such as MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle
• Proven experience designing scalable data models for enterprise reporting and analytics
• Experience defining architecture standards, governance practices, and technical patterns across teams
• Ability to work effectively with both internal stakeholders and third-party development or consulting partners

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics initiatives through well-structured data architecture
• Experience modernizing legacy or loosely governed data environments into scalable enterprise platforms
• Familiarity with BI and analytics consumption patterns, including dimensional modeling and semantic layer design
