Senior Data Engineer

Our client is seeking a

Senior Data Engineer

to join a growing team responsible for building and enhancing modern data platforms and enterprise data solutions. This individual will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing scalable data pipelines, integrations, and cloud-based data architectures to support critical business initiatives.

Location:

Hybrid (Des Moines, IA metro)

Salary Target:

$120k - $130k base

The ideal candidate is a highly technical, hands-on engineer who enjoys building solutions, writing code, and working within modern data ecosystems. This is an individual contributor role offering the opportunity to make a significant impact within a collaborative and technically strong team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data integration solutions.
  • Develop and optimize data models, transformations, and workflows within a modern cloud data platform.
  • Implement ELT/ETL processes using industry best practices.
  • Support modernization efforts by transitioning legacy data solutions into cloud-based architectures.
  • Develop and support event-driven and API-based integration solutions.
  • Partner with architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality data products.
  • Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, performant, and aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Participate in code reviews and mentor less experienced team members.
  • Support CI/CD processes, automated testing, and data governance initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8\+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Integration, or related disciplines.
  • Strong expertise with

Snowflake

.

  • Hands-on experience with

dbt

.

  • Advanced SQL development and performance optimization skills.
  • Experience building enterprise-scale data pipelines and data products.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and ELT/ETL principles.
  • Experience working in cloud-based environments.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working within Agile development environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with

Databricks

.

  • Experience with

Kafka

or other event-driven streaming technologies.

  • Knowledge of Snowflake Dynamic Tables.
  • Experience with Azure data technologies.
  • Experience with ADLS, ADF, or similar cloud data services.
  • Legacy platform experience such as SQL Server or Informatica.
  • Financial services industry experience.
  • Snowflake certifications.
