We're working with a profitable, fast-growing AI startup transforming the call center industry with voice AI agents — delivering realistic, low-latency, AI-powered conversations that meaningfully improve customer ROI. The company scaled from $5M to $60M ARR with a lean team, growing from 16 to 36 employees in months, with plans to double again by year end.

About the Role

We're hiring a Design Engineer — a designer who codes, not an engineer who designs. You'll bridge the gap between the creative and engineering teams, bringing strong design taste paired with hands-on HTML/CSS skills to bring that design to life in the browser. This is the company's first dedicated in-house design engineer hire, with direct access to the CPO and real ownership from day one.

What You'll Do

• Build the company's design system from scratch — component library, design tokens, Figma variables, and Storybook documentation

• Own design-code parity across core product surfaces (dashboard, agent config, CRM views)

• Work closely with the CPO, product managers, senior product designer, and engineering team to raise the quality bar on every product surface

• Translate Figma designs into production-grade components with pixel-level accuracy using AI-first workflows (Cursor, Claude Code)

• Prototype in code and test with real users before full systemization

• Review frontend PRs for visual quality and maintain consistency at scale

What We're Looking For

• 5\+ years of experience in UX/UI design or design engineering in tech/SaaS (NON NEGOTIABLE)

• A design-first background — your most recent role is a design role

• A portfolio showing real, shipped design work

• Strong Figma skills — component libraries, variables, auto layout

• Solid HTML and CSS experience

• Active use of AI coding tools like Cursor and Claude Code

• Able to work onsite in Redwood City, CA

Nice to Have

• Experience building a design system 0→1

• SaaS or AI/voice product background

• Storybook, motion/interaction design, accessibility experience

Compensation \& Benefits

• $180,000–$300,000 base \+ equity (choose your own cash/equity balance)
