Senior DevOps Engineer – Kubernetes/AWS

Our client, a cloud-native SaaS company, is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and operation of container orchestration platforms at scale, with a primary focus on Kubernetes on AWS (EKS). This is a backfill role on an established platform team supporting a large, multi-cluster production environment.

What You'll Do

• Manage and scale a large multi-cluster EKS environment (prod and non-prod) supporting customer-facing applications
• Stand up new clusters and expand existing infrastructure in partnership with application teams
• Drive Kubernetes version upgrade strategy and streamline the upgrade process
• Improve environment elasticity, stability, and alerting/observability
• Support incident response and root cause analysis, with resolution timelines ranging from quick fixes to multi-week efforts
• Partner with security and finance stakeholders on compliance and cost optimization initiatives
• Participate in a follow-the-sun on-call model, including periodic weekend rotation
• Collaborate with L1/NOC teams on troubleshooting
• Mentor engineers and contribute to a highly collaborative, cross-training culture
• Split expected at roughly 80% hands-on execution, 20% strategic direction-setting

Must-Have Skills

• Strong hands-on Terraform and CI/CD pipeline experience
• Deep AWS EKS experience (AWS specific, not Azure)
• GitLab experience (self-hosted and SaaS)
• Monitoring/observability tools: Splunk, New Relic, CloudWatch
