Job Description
Senior Electrical Engineer - Data Centers
Excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to support the design and delivery of advanced onsite power and microgrid solutions serving data centers.
As demand for reliable, scalable, and sustainable onsite power continues to grow across the data center sector, this role will play a key part in developing and implementing MV electrical infrastructure that integrates distributed energy resources, energy storage, and grid interactive systems to deliver high performance power solutions.
What you will do
- Lead the development of electrical designs for MV and HV systems supporting mission critical and data center facilities
- Perform and oversee power system studies including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, harmonics, load transient analysis, and protection coordination
- Develop and review protection and control schemes including hands on experience with SEL relays and relay coordination strategies
- Support installation, testing, and commissioning of MV and LV equipment in coordination with construction and delivery partners
- Prepare and review single line diagrams, electrical layouts, interconnect drawings, and power distribution designs
- Design and support AC and DC distribution systems, inverters, rectifiers, UPS systems, and energy storage integration
- Provide technical leadership for microgrid architectures including islanding strategies, black start capabilities, fast load step response, and DER integration
- Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, UL, IEEE, and applicable electrical safety standards
- Maintain technical ownership of electrical power system scope across concept design through on site execution
- Support engineering documentation, product validation, system verification, and field troubleshooting
You may be a great fit if you have
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
- 2\+ years of experience designing or delivering electrical systems for data centers or mission critical facilities
- Deep expertise in MV power systems including distribution, grounding, and protection
- Experience performing or reviewing power system modeling and analysis (ETAP, SKM, PSCAD, or similar tools)
- Hands on experience with protection relays including SEL relays, settings development, and coordination
- Experience analyzing dynamic system performance and load transient behavior in microgrid or mission critical environments
- Working knowledge of electrical codes and standards including NEC, IEEE, NFPA, UL, and OSHA
- Experience with switchgear, transformers, and distributed generation systems
- Ability to collaborate across engineering, construction, and commercial teams in technically complex environments
- Experience with microgrids, distributed energy resources, or grid interactive power systems would be an advantage
Location and Travel
- Remote role (preference for Nth East or Texas)
- Travel approximately 15%
