Senior Engineer – Architecture / Data Lake

Location: Santa Clara, CA

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to platform architecture and drive systems toward long-term extensibility and reuse

• Design and evolve data infrastructure including ingestion, storage, modeling, querying, and lifecycle management

• Build core services, pipelines, and internal platform tools (primarily in Python)

• Ensure reliability, consistency, observability, and failure recovery across batch and streaming systems

• Drive convergence around schemas, metadata, governance, and permissions

• Work with product, operations, and research to turn ambiguous requirements into robust system designs

• Make pragmatic decisions about where to invest in abstraction vs. simplicity

Qualifications:

• Proven experience owning or evolving complex systems or platform infrastructure

• Strong Python skills for building services, pipelines, and internal tools

• Deep understanding of system design including service boundaries, state, data flow, and reliability

• Experience with or strong understanding of data platforms (lakehouse, batch/stream processing, schema evolution, metadata, governance)

• Strong technical judgment and communication; able to navigate trade-offs and drive decisions

• High standards for code quality, testing, and long-term maintainability

• Experience with AI agent harnesses, agent tooling, or automated workflow implementations

• Experience with complex system migration, architectural convergence, or platform refactoring
