THE POSITION

As a

Senior External Communications Manager

, you will lead high-impact communications programs that protect and enhance the company’s reputation with investors, media, customers, and the public. This role will focus heavily on crisis communications, financial communications, and strategic external messaging in support of a rapidly evolving aerospace business.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned communications professional who thrives in high-stakes environments and has experience navigating complex issues and reputational challenges. This role will partner closely with senior leadership, investor relations, legal, and operational teams to ensure clear, accurate, and timely communications with external stakeholders.

You will report directly to our Director, Communications.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement strategic external communication plans to enhance the company's brand and reputation.
  • Identify emerging reputational risks and proactively develop communications strategies.
  • Manage reactive media inquiries and ensure consistent messaging across internal and external communications teams.
  • Support crisis and issues communications, including drafting statements, press materials, and Q\&A for a variety of reputational matters.
  • Assist with crisis readiness and response, contributing to playbooks and executive materials, monitoring media and stakeholder sentiment, and supporting the crisis response team during active situations.
  • Support financial communications in partnership with Investor Relations and Finance, including earnings announcements, financial results, major contract wins, etc.
  • Assist with market ‑ sensitive messaging, helping prepare messages, executive talking points, and investor materials while ensuring alignment with disclosure and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE

  • 6\+ years of experience.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, particularly for executive and high-stakes communications.
  • Ability to operate effectively in high-pressure environments with tight timelines.
  • Demonstrated experience managing crisis communications and reputational issues.
  • Experience supporting financial communications, investor relations, or earnings communications.
  • Strong media relations experience with national or industry media outlets.

WE VALUE

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Master's degree in Communications or related field.
  • Experience in aerospace, aviation, defense, advanced manufacturing, or highly regulated industries.
  • Experience working with publicly traded companies.
  • Strong leadership and strategic thinking.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Proactive and self-motivated.
