Senior FP&A Analyst

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly analytical and business-minded

Senior FP\&A Analyst

to join our growing transportation organization. This role will serve as the primary owner of the company's Profit \& Loss (P\&L) management process, providing critical financial insights that drive operational and strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in financial planning and analysis, with a proven track record of owning complex P\&Ls in asset-intensive, logistics, transportation, distribution, or related industries. This individual will partner closely with operations, sales, and executive leadership to improve financial performance, identify opportunities for margin expansion, and support the company's growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

P\&L Ownership \& Financial Performance

• Serve as the sole owner and subject matter expert for the company's consolidated P\&L reporting, forecasting, and analysis processes.
• Develop and maintain detailed revenue, cost, margin, and profitability models across business lines, customers, routes, terminals, and operational segments.
• Deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial forecasts with a strong focus on operational drivers and business performance.
• Lead monthly financial reviews, providing clear explanations of variances versus budget, forecast, and prior periods.
• Identify key trends, risks, and opportunities affecting profitability and proactively recommend corrective actions.

Forecasting, Budgeting \& Planning

• Lead annual budgeting and long-range planning processes across the organization.
• Partner with operational leaders to translate business assumptions into financial forecasts.
• Develop driver-based forecasting models for revenue, labor, fuel, maintenance, equipment utilization, and other transportation-related cost categories.
• Continuously improve planning processes, assumptions, and forecasting accuracy.

Business Partnership \& Decision Support

• Act as a strategic finance partner to operations, commercial, and executive leadership teams.
• Support pricing, customer profitability, route optimization, fleet investment, and capital allocation decisions through financial analysis.
• Evaluate business initiatives, investments, and operational changes through ROI and scenario modeling.
• Present actionable financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership.

Reporting \& Analytics

• Produce and enhance management reporting packages, dashboards, and KPI analyses.
• Monitor key transportation metrics including revenue per mile, cost per mile, fuel efficiency, fleet utilization, labor productivity, and operating margins.
• Develop ad hoc analyses to support strategic and operational initiatives.
• Drive automation and continuous improvement of FP\&A reporting processes and tools.

Process Improvement

• Strengthen financial controls and governance surrounding forecasting and reporting activities.
• Improve data quality, reporting efficiency, and financial visibility across the organization.
• Collaborate with Accounting to ensure alignment between actual financial results and management reporting.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
• 5\+ years of progressive FP\&A, corporate finance, or financial analysis experience.
• Demonstrated ownership of a full P\&L, including forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and executive reporting.
• Strong understanding of financial statements and business performance drivers.
• Advanced Excel modeling skills, including complex financial models and scenario analysis.
• Experience partnering directly with operational and executive stakeholders.
• Ability to translate complex financial information into clear business recommendations.
• Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
