Job Description
About Tilt Rips
Tilt Rips is a digital collectibles platform where customers open packs of real Pokémon, One Piece, and sports cards. Collectors can keep their cards securely vaulted, have them shipped, list them on our marketplace, or sell them back for platform credit.
The experience combines the excitement of opening a pack with the functionality of a marketplace and wallet. We're hiring a Senior Frontend Engineer to make that experience fast, intuitive, and reliable.
The role
You will own customer-facing features from technical design through launch and ongoing improvement. Your work will span pack discovery and opening, collection management, marketplace interactions, wallet flows, and the experiences that bring collectors back.
You'll work closely with Product, Design, and Backend Engineering to turn ideas into polished software. We want someone with strong engineering fundamentals, a good eye for interaction design, and the judgment to make practical decisions as the product grows.
What you'll do
- Build and improve the core collector journey: discover a pack, purchase it, open it, and manage the cards received through vaulting, selling, listing, or shipping.
- Create responsive interfaces and smooth pack-reveal animations that perform well across mobile and desktop browsers, including lower-powered devices.
- Build clear, dependable wallet, checkout, and transaction interfaces. Handle pending, successful, failed, and interrupted actions so customers understand what happened and what to do next.
- Partner with backend engineers on API contracts, state management, caching, and real-time updates. Keep displayed prices, balances, inventory, and transaction status consistent with server-confirmed data.
- Work with designers to turn product concepts into complete interactions, including loading, empty, error, and accessibility states.
- Develop reusable components and frontend patterns that make the product more consistent and help the team ship efficiently.
- Improve application performance through measurement and profiling. Address slow loading, delayed interactions, rendering issues, and errors that affect real customers.
- Implement onboarding, promotions, referral experiences, and experiments with clear analytics so the team can understand adoption and improve the product.
- Own quality through code reviews, appropriate automated tests, release monitoring, and production debugging. Apply secure frontend practices to authentication, session handling, and sensitive customer information.
- Contribute to technical planning, break projects into useful releases, and mentor teammates through thoughtful feedback and shared problem-solving.
What you bring
- 5\+ years of professional frontend engineering experience, with a record of shipping and maintaining consumer-facing products.
- Strong JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and browser fundamentals, plus production experience with a modern frontend framework. We are open to different technology backgrounds.
- Experience owning substantial features independently, from an ambiguous product brief to a reliable production release.
- Strong understanding of asynchronous behavior, client-side state, API integration, and the challenges of keeping an interface accurate as data changes.
- An eye for visual detail and interaction quality. You care about spacing, motion, feedback, usability, and accessibility as well as the underlying code.
- Experience measuring and improving frontend performance, testing important user journeys, and diagnosing production issues.
- Clear communication and sound technical judgment. You can explain your decisions, collaborate across disciplines, and balance delivery speed with maintainability.
Experience that would be especially useful
- Consumer marketplaces, ecommerce, fintech, gaming, or other products with frequent transactions and highly engaged users.
- Wallets, payments, checkout, inventory, or real-time product experiences.
- Animation, interactive graphics, design systems, or particularly polished mobile web interfaces.
- TypeScript, experimentation platforms, product analytics, or frontend observability.
- An interest in trading cards, collectibles, or the communities around them.
What success looks like in your first 90 days
- You understand the collector journey, the frontend codebase, and the main sources of customer friction.
- You have shipped a meaningful customer-facing improvement and assessed its quality and impact after launch.
- You have improved an important performance, reliability, or usability issue and contributed reusable code or patterns for the team.
- Product, Design, and Engineering can rely on you to take ownership, surface risks early, and follow features through to completion.
