We are seeking an experienced Senior HR Generalist who thrives in a hands-on environment and is motivated to help scale and strengthen HR operations.

Position Summary

The Senior HR Generalist serves as a key operational partner to the HR Director, leadership team, and employees across the organization. This is a highly hands-on role requiring 5–7 years of progressive HR experience, with demonstrated experience supporting government contracting organizations. The successful candidate will bring strong expertise in benefits administration, employee relations, HR compliance, HRIS administration, and policy development.

This role is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys operational execution, values exceptional internal customer service, and seeks to contribute to continuous improvement of HR programs, processes, and organizational culture.

Key Responsibilities

HR Operations \& Employee Support

  • Administer and assist in development of HR programs including benefits, employee relations, investigations, compensation, performance management, training, onboarding, and employee culture and experience initiatives.
  • Provide timely, professional, and solutions-oriented HR customer service to employees and managers.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to managers on performance management, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation.

Compliance \& Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and contractual labor laws and regulations, including AAP, FMLA, ADA, EEOC, HIPAA, and wage determinations or union agreements.
  • Manage employee leave administration (FMLA, ADA, STD) and related documentation.
  • Support regulatory and compliance reporting requirements.
  • Assist with ISO, CMMI, and CMMC documentation and audit preparation.

Benefits \& HRIS Administration

  • Oversee benefits administration, including enrollments, audits, vendor relationships, and compliance activities. Oversee HR Assistant reconciliation of invoices.
  • Administer and optimize the HRIS platform (UKG Ready), ensuring data integrity, employee account maintenance, reporting accuracy, and system improvements.

Employee Lifecycle \& Engagement

  • Assist with onboarding and orientation with HR Assistant to ensure a positive and informative new-hire experience.
  • Conduct exit interviews, analyze trends, and provide actionable insights.
  • Support learning and development initiatives, including training development and coordination.

Policy, Process \& Continuous Improvement

  • Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining HR policies, procedures, SOPs, and internal documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, service delivery, and operational efficiency.
  • Support special projects and cross-functional initiatives as assigned.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and commitment to meeting deadlines, including supporting critical HR cycles or project timelines as needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5–7 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years within a government contracting environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HR laws and regulations applicable to government contractors.
  • Proven experience in benefits administration, regulatory compliance, and HR policy development.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint).
  • Experience using HRIS platforms; UKG Ready or similar systems preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage employees at all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and accountability.
  • Comfortable facilitating orientations, training, and virtual meetings (on camera).
  • Ability to work independently, identify improvements, make sound decisions, and appropriately escalate issues.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality HR service.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting ISO, CMMI, and/or CMMC environments.
  • HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP).
