Job Description

Arhaus was founded in 1986 on a simple idea: Furniture and décor should be sustainably sourced, lovingly made, and built to last. Today, we partner with artisans around the world who share our vision, creating beautiful, heirloom-quality pieces that can be used—and loved—for generations.

Description:

The Sr. IT Project Manager is a self‑starter responsible for leading Commerce and Point of Sale (POS)–related technology initiatives that support Arhaus’ retail growth and in‑store customer experience. This role focuses on delivering projects that enhance transaction flow, store operations, and omnichannel commerce capabilities across a furniture retail environment.

This individual is eager to learn the business, understands how technology enables the retail floor, and partners closely with Commerce, Store Operations, and IT teams to deliver practical, scalable solutions. The Sr. IT Project Manager takes ownership of initiatives, navigates ambiguity with confidence, and continuously builds expertise in retail systems, POS platforms, and customer-facing technologies.

Essential Duties \& Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning \& Governance:

  • Define and manage project scope, objectives, timelines, and success metrics for Commerce and POS system initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain project plans that support store operations, transaction reliability, and omnichannel integration.
  • Partner with business and IT stakeholders to understand retail workflows and align technology solutions accordingly.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, and vendor coordination related to POS and commerce platforms.

Execution \& Delivery:

  • Lead Commerce and POS system projects across corporate, store, and technology teams.
  • Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and operational impacts, driving mitigation plans to completion.
  • Support enhancements, upgrades, and rollouts of POS platforms and related retail technologies.
  • Apply lessons learned to improve delivery, processes, and future project outcomes.

Stakeholder Communication \& Collaboration:

  • Communicate project status, risks, and progress clearly to business and IT partners.
  • Translate technical concepts into practical business impacts for store operations and commerce teams.
  • Build strong working relationships with Store Operations, Commerce, Infrastructure, and Vendor partners.

Team Leadership \& Learning Mindset:

  • Lead project teams through influence, collaboration, and accountability rather than authority.
  • Demonstrate curiosity and willingness to deepen understanding of retail commerce systems and POS platforms.
  • Encourage continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and operational excellence within project teams.

Quality, Problem-Solving \& Outcomes:

  • Ensure deliverables meet functional, operational, and quality expectations for store and commerce environments.
  • Apply structured problem-solving to resolve issues impacting POS stability or store operations.
  • Facilitate post‑project reviews to capture insights and improve future Commerce and POS initiatives.

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

  • 8–10\+ years of IT project management experience, preferably supporting retail, commerce, or customer-facing systems.
  • Experience delivering projects related to POS systems, Commerce platforms, or store technologies strongly preferred.

Certifications:

Professional certification such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2 preferred.

Technical \& Methodology Expertise:

  • Working knowledge of Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with project management tools such as Jira, Asana, MS Project, and Monday.com.
  • Interest in learning POS platforms, commerce technologies, and retail system integrations.

Leadership \& Attributes:

  • Self‑starter with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Eagerness to learn the furniture retail business and how technology supports in‑store and omnichannel experiences.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non‑technical teams.
  • Solid organizational, problem‑solving, and execution skills in a fast‑paced retail environment.
