About Strava
Strava is the app for active people. With over 180 million athletes in more than 185 countries, it’s more than tracking workouts—it’s where people make progress together, from new habits to new personal bests. No matter your sport or how you track it, Strava’s got you covered. Find your crew, crush your goals, and make every effort count. Start your journey with Strava today.
Our mission is simple: to motivate people to live their best active lives. We believe in the power of movement to connect and drive people forward.
About This Role
We're looking for a Senior iOS Engineer to join Strava for Business — the team behind sponsored challenges, brand partnerships, and other revenue-generating products that help fund Strava's mission. You'd be the sole iOS engineer on a seven-person engineering team, which means real ownership: you set the iOS direction, work directly with XFN partners, and see your work reach millions of athletes.
You'll also be plugged into Strava's broader iOS community — 20\+ engineers, shared architecture reviews, pair programming, and an active iOS guild. This is the team behind the #1 fitness app and the 2025 Apple Watch App of the Year.
What You’ll Do:
- Own iOS on Strava for Business — set the technical direction and ship features that reach millions of athletes
- Build and improve the Challenges product alongside the top brands in the world, including new capabilities nobody's tried
- Work closely with product and design to ship polished features in small, deliberate increments
- Mentor engineers through code reviews and pair programming, and set the bar for iOS quality on across the company
- Use AI tools to find faster, smarter ways to build and ship software
We follow a flexible hybrid model that translates to more than half of your time on-site in our San Francisco office — typically three days per week.
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
- 7\+ years of iOS engineering experience, with deep fluency in SwiftUI and UIKit — and enough Objective-C to get by
- Strong mobile architecture instincts — you think about scalability before it becomes a problem
- Experience building sophisticated iOS components: custom animations, gesture systems, and interaction patterns that feel native and polished
- The ability to translate complex product requirements into clear technical plans
- Good product instincts and design sense — you know when something isn't quite right and can articulate why
- A track record of using data to make decisions and bring others along
- A kaizen mindset — you give and receive direct feedback, and leave every codebase and team better than you found them
