ABOUT ROLE:
The Senior Manager, Global Procurement - Strategic Programs will be responsible for execution of Global Procurement initiatives that align with Avery Dennison’s Plan to Win. This role will be a strategic enabler to the global procurement function, implementing industry best practices, driving execution of strategic initiatives and governance. A critical focus of this role will be managing performance tracking of functional KPIs, managing strategic procurement projects, and governing relationships with external delivery partners. You will act as the connective tissue between category managers, cross-functional teams, Finance and external outsourcing partnerships.
Reporting directly to the Senior Director, Strategic Programs and Operational Excellence, this role will enable execution of the functional strategies developed by the Global Materials Procurement Leadership Team (GMPLT). The successful candidate will lead execution and governance of highly complex global programs to achieve desired outcomes that truly position procurement as a value creator vs. just being a cost cutter.
Key Responsibilities:
Functional OGSM \& KPI Governance
- Oversee the governance and performance tracking of the Global Procurement OGSM (Objectives, Goals, Strategies, and Measures) and KPIs.
- Facilitate regular strategic review cadences with procurement teams to assess OGSM progress, identify operational bottlenecks, and drive course corrections.
Project Leadership and External Partner Governance
- Direct and manage the full project lifecycle for strategic global procurement initiatives.
- Act as the primary liaison between Procurement, cross-functional teams and external vendors to ensure seamless project execution.
- Develop detailed project charters, work breakdown structures, resource plans, and project schedules.
- Establish and monitor robust governance frameworks, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure external partners meet performance commitments and expectations.
- Proactively identify, track, and mitigate project risks/issues, escalating to executive sponsors when necessary.
- Manage project financials and related commitments, ensuring all initiatives are delivered within approved financial parameters.
- Facilitate regular project meetings, workshops, and steering committee reviews with global stakeholders and external partner leadership across different time zones.
- Develop clear, impactful project communications and executive-level status reports.
- Act as the primary point of escalation for outsourcing-related project issues, facilitating joint continuous improvement initiatives between internal teams and external providers.
Qualifications
Education \& Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred).
- 10\+ years of dedicated project management experience, with a proven track record of managing large-scale, global projects.
- 3\+ years of experience working directly with, or embedded within, a Procurement, Sourcing, or Supply Chain organization.
- Experience managing projects that involve outsourcing, managed services, or complex external partner integrations.
- Active Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2, or equivalent certification (Change Management, Agile/Scrum, or Lean Six Sigma certifications are strongly preferred).
- Experience navigating matrixed, global organizations; the role may require some global travel.
Technical Skills
- Deep understanding of and hands-on experience with project management software.
- Proficiency in data visualization and business intelligence tools to build and maintain KPI dashboards.
- Strong background in vendor governance frameworks and SLA/KPI management methodology.

- Adaptability: Comfortable pivoting strategies in response to shifting global market dynamics, internal business priorities, or vendor performance.
Additional Information
The salary range for this position will be $139,000 - 185,000 / year.
The hiring base salary range represents what Avery Dennison reasonably expects to pay for this position as of the date of this posting. Actual salaries will vary within the range, and in some circumstances may be above or below the range, based on various factors including but not limited to a candidate’s relevant skills, experience, education and training, and location, as well as the job scope and complexity, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel required for the position, which may change depending on the candidate pool.
