Salary: $130,000 – $150,000 \+ Benefits

A rapidly growing engineering and automation company in Houston is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced automated machinery used across industrial and manufacturing environments.

This is a key role for an experienced engineer who enjoys taking ownership of complex mechanical systems—from concept through to build, testing, and deployment. You’ll work on high-impact projects focused on improving production efficiency, reliability, and scalability for a diverse client base.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for designing robust, high-performance automation equipment, working closely with multidisciplinary teams across controls, electrical, and manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of automation machinery and custom equipment
• Develop detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings
• Perform tolerance analysis, FEA, and design validation
• Oversee prototype builds, testing, and iteration
• Collaborate with controls and electrical engineers on system integration
• Support manufacturing, assembly, and commissioning activities
• Drive continuous improvement in design processes and standards

Key Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field)
• 5\+ years of experience in mechanical design, ideally within automation or machinery
• Strong CAD experience (e.g. SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar)
• Experience designing complex assemblies, mechanisms, and moving systems
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, assembly)
• Experience with FEA and engineering analysis tools
• Hands-on mindset with the ability to support builds and testing

• Robotics or automated production systems
• Mechatronics / electromechanical integration
• High-speed machinery or precision equipment
• Exposure to industrial standards and safety compliance
