Job Description:

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Mechanical Engineer, located in New Haven, CT. This role will assist in the development of custom machinery for internal and external customers by designing, specifying, sourcing, assembling, and testing mechanical components. Travel as needed to customer sites for installation, and service of equipment.

Duties \& Responsibilities:

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design of custom automated production line equipment in support of our client’s needs. Including: design, detailing, construction.

You will be expected to:

  • Complete conceptual designs of large assemblies and component parts.
  • Detailing mechanical assemblies
  • Print generation for fabrication
  • Creating mechanical BOMs
  • Managing build timelines
  • Work with internal and external vendors as needed while parts are being made.
  • Assemble mechanical (static and dynamic) components.
  • Test mechanical assemblies for conformance with design intent. Debug and modify as needed.
  • Research and select specialty items for integration into equipment design.
  • Work with customers to ensure that their needs are understood and met.
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized work environment.
  • Work with various technologies including: machine vision, indexing cam-driven assemblies and robotics systems, to multi axis gantry motion, and high-speed continuous motion systems.
  • Perform engineering calculations where required.

Skills \& Competencies

  • Strong computer skills, including expertise in SolidWorks
  • Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD\&T), and tolerance stack-ups
  • Knowledge of machine shop practices are advantageous
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical system issues
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Collaboration skills
