AcceleDev is a growing chemistry CRO/CDMO, with offices in the USA \& China. We have an exciting opening in our Cranbury, New Jersey R\&D site for a highly motivated full-time Senior Process Chemist. Your primary focus will be independently designing and performing API process R\&D work at the bench and exchanging technical information internally and externally with our customers. This is a unique position \& high growth opportunity, because you will learn and participate in a wide range of other critically important supporting activities.
Our business model provides customers with organic chemistry services in early-stage research, scale-up and development, and specialty manufacturing. We primarily serve the Pharmaceutical industry, specializing in innovative organic synthesis, for early, late-stage, and commercial programs. All candidates must have a strong background in fundamental organic chemistry and bench synthetic techniques. Some industrial pharmaceutical chemistry R\&D experience is essential. CRO/CDMO experience is preferred.

Position Summary:
Responsibilities include route design, bench chemistry route scouting and process development work, fast scale-up and production of advanced intermediates and APIs. Efficient communication of progress \& results to both customers \& internal teams is required. The position also involves new proposal work scope and costing tasks.
Responsibilities:
· Conduct process R\&D, including route discovery, optimization, and safety evaluation under cGLP/cGMP.
· Execute and optimize multi-step organic syntheses and purification processes.
· Design and improve synthetic routes with minimal supervision.
· Develop safe, cost-effective, robust, and scalable chemical processes and support scale-up to 50L.
· Identify critical process parameters and implement in-process controls.
· Troubleshoot an array of synthetic chemistry-related issues.
· Support technology transfer to kilo lab, pilot plant, and manufacturing teams.
· Operate and maintain analytical instruments (HPLC, LC-MS, GC-MS, etc.) and perform compound characterization.
· Maintain accurate batch records, notebooks, and documentation per SOP and GMP requirements.
· Prepare technical reports, weekly updates, and contribute to customer communications.
· Contribute to proposals and project planning including work scope and raw material costing.
· Follow all EHS, GMP, and laboratory safety protocols; maintain a clean, organized hood, bench, and shared workspace.
Qualifications:
· PhD in Organic Chemistry (required).
· 3\+ years of process chemistry experience in the pharmaceutical or CDMO industry.
· Kilo-lab experience with demonstrated success scaling chemical processes.
· Proven track record delivering safe, timely, and successful synthetic organic chemistry projects.
· Strong knowledge of analytical techniques, including HPLC, LC-MS, and NMR, and proficiency with data analysis software and interpretation of analytical results.
· Familiarity with cGMP regulations and experience working in GMP environments (preferred).
· Demonstrated scientific impact through publications, presentations, or technical contributions.
· Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
· Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
· Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively on a team.
· Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position.
