Position Overview
Wheeler Staffing Partners
is seeking an experienced
Senior Project Manager
to oversee large-scale
mechanical construction projects supporting hospital systems in the Boston metro area
.
This role is responsible for managing the
full lifecycle of complex healthcare construction projects
, including financial oversight, subcontractor management, project scheduling, and client relationships.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience working for a
mechanical subcontractor managing HVAC or plumbing construction projects exceeding $5M
, particularly within
hospital or healthcare environments
.
The strongest candidates typically progressed through the
mechanical trades
, such as plumber, foreman, superintendent, or similar field leadership roles, before transitioning into project management.
Project Overview
- Large healthcare infrastructure project in the
Boston metro area
- Multiple hospital project sites
- Mechanical systems including
HVAC and building infrastructure
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership \& Execution
- Oversee all phases of project implementation in accordance with contractual requirements
- Serve as a key resource to project executives and leadership regarding project scope and execution
- Ensure compliance with building codes, project specifications, and contract requirements
Financial \& Contract Management
- Manage project budgets, cost forecasting, and financial reporting
- Execute contract delivery models including
Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP), Lump Sum, and concession agreements
- Monitor project costs, reporting, insurance requirements, and contract compliance
Construction Operations
- Negotiate and manage vendor purchase orders and subcontract agreements
- Coordinate subcontractors and vendors to ensure adherence to project schedules and milestones
- Support engineering, procurement, and construction coordination efforts
Project Systems \& Documentation
- Manage project documentation and change management processes through
Procore
- Oversee RFIs, design changes, and client directives from issuance through resolution
- Ensure proper document control and reporting according to project management procedures
Safety \& Quality Management
- Promote a safe jobsite environment through safety planning, job hazard analysis approvals, and site walkthroughs
- Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety plan reviews
- Ensure implementation of project-specific
quality assurance plans
Client \& Stakeholder Management
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors
- Lead project meetings and distribute agendas and meeting minutes
- Communicate project risks and mitigation strategies with leadership teams
Team Leadership
- Mentor and develop Project Managers and project team members
- Promote collaboration across project teams and company divisions
Required Qualifications
- 8\+ years of project management experience
working for a
mechanical subcontractor
- Demonstrated experience managing
$5M\+ hospital or healthcare construction projects
- Bachelor’s degree in
Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture
, or related field
- Equivalent field experience in
HVAC or plumbing construction leadership
may be considered
- Strong understanding of construction scheduling, materials, equipment, and project financial management
- Proficiency with
Microsoft Office Suite and Procore
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
certification
- Procore Certified
professional
- 10–12\+ years of experience working on
healthcare campus or hospital construction projects
- OSHA 30 certification
- CPR and First Aid certifications

Work Environment
This role involves working both in office environments and active construction sites and may include:
- Climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolding
- Standing or sitting for extended periods
- Exposure to construction site environments and occasional noise
- Light physical work including moving objects up to 20 pounds
