Job Description
The Senior Project Manager leads complex design projects that are larger in scope, value, and technical complexity than those typically managed by a Project Manager. This role provides overall direction for project planning and execution, leads multidisciplinary design teams, and serves as a key point of contact for clients. The Senior Project Manager plays a critical role in delivering high-quality design solutions while building strong, long-term client relationships.
Projects may involve multiple disciplines, subconsultants, and stakeholders and require close coordination across teams to ensure successful delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and execution of complex design projects from kickoff through completion.
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk for high-visibility projects.
- Direct and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, including internal staff and external subconsultants.
- Serve as a primary client contact, building strong relationships and ensuring a positive client experience.
- Proactively identify and resolve project challenges related to design coordination, resourcing, and execution.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to Project Managers and project team members as needed.
- Support collaboration across design, engineering, and construction teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of seven (7) years of successful project management experience, including responsibility for complex projects.
Preferred Skills \& Experience
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience leading large, multidisciplinary design teams and coordinating subconsultants.
- Proven success managing complex design-focused projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of core engineering disciplines and design project execution.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to lead, collaborate, and influence effectively.
- Completion of at least 8 hours of leadership or supervisory training annually.
