Job Description

The Role

Digital Counsel is seeking a

Senior Project Manager

to lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of integrated digital communications projects across strategy, branding, design, content, social media, paid media, reporting, websites, and digital platforms.

This role will begin as a 30-day contract engagement,

with the potential to extend or convert based on business needs and performance. The salary range for this position is

$85,000–$95,000 annually,

commensurate with experience. Benefits are included for eligible employees in accordance with Digital Counsel’s policies.

This is not a web-only project management role. Our work begins with communication strategy: clarifying the client’s message, audience, positioning, goals, and cultural context. From there, projects often branch into multiple simultaneous workstreams, including brand identity, design, social strategy, content planning, editorial production, paid media, web design, web development, content strategy, analytics, and reporting.

The Senior Project Manager serves as the central operator across this integrated practice. They are responsible for turning strategic direction into actionable project briefs, timelines, workbacks, meeting structures, documentation, internal next steps, and client-facing deliverables. They must be able to keep designers, strategists, copywriters, social media teams, content producers, developers, paid media specialists, analysts, vendors, clients, and senior stakeholders aligned and moving forward.

This role requires someone who understands that excellent project management is not simply checking in with engineers or tracking web development tasks. It requires setting up the full project architecture: defining the brief, identifying dependencies, clarifying ownership, documenting next steps, managing internal and client approvals, and ensuring each workstream supports the larger communications strategy.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on, senior-level project manager who can manage complexity without creating confusion, anticipate risks before they become blockers, and ensure that strategic, creative, technical, and marketing workstreams move together with clarity, accountability, and momentum.

What You’ll DoIntegrated Digital Project Management

  • Own the planning and coordination of integrated digital projects from discovery and strategy through production, launch, campaign execution, reporting, and optimization.
  • Translate client goals, positioning, audience needs, and communication strategy into clear project briefs, scopes, timelines, workbacks, and next steps.
  • Ensure every project begins with a shared understanding of the core message: what we are communicating, who we are speaking to, how the client is being positioned, and what success looks like.
  • Manage multiple simultaneous workstreams across branding, design, social strategy, content planning, paid media, web design, web development, content strategy, analytics, and reporting.
  • Maintain the connection between high-level strategy and day-to-day production so that individual deliverables do not become disconnected from the larger client objective.

Briefs, Planning, and Documentation

  • Develop and maintain clear project briefs that define goals, audiences, messaging priorities, deliverables, stakeholders, timelines, dependencies, and approval paths.
  • Set up and maintain project spaces in Basecamp or other project management tools, ensuring that all relevant briefs, timelines, next steps, meeting notes, decisions, and deliverables are documented and easy to find.
  • Create agendas and recaps for internal and client meetings, with clear action items, owners, and deadlines.
  • Ensure that projects do not rely on informal conversations, undocumented decisions, or siloed communication with only one part of the team.
  • Proactively identify gaps in information, unclear ownership, missing approvals, and unresolved strategic questions.

Cross-Functional Team Leadership

  • Coordinate workflows between strategists, designers, developers, copywriters, social media managers, content producers, paid media teams, analysts, vendors, and clients.
  • Run internal kickoff meetings, stakeholder check-ins, production meetings, milestone reviews, and launch or campaign readiness meetings.
  • Maintain clarity around roles, responsibilities, dependencies, and approvals across internal and external teams.
  • Ensure key stakeholders are brought into the process at the right moments, especially when decisions affect strategy, creative direction, client positioning, budget, timeline, or scope.
  • Anticipate bottlenecks and proactively resolve issues before they affect quality, timeline, budget, or client trust.

Digital Marketing, Social, and Content Production

  • Support planning and execution across digital marketing campaigns, social media strategy, editorial calendars, content production, paid media, email, reporting, and platform management.
  • Manage workflows across copywriting, design, creative review, content approvals, scheduling, publishing, paid amplification, and performance reporting.
  • Ensure that social, content, campaign, and web workstreams are planned together when they are part of the same client strategy.
  • Help translate strategic and creative direction into actionable production plans for social content, campaign assets, platform updates, and reporting deliverables.
  • Maintain consistency across brand, tone, messaging, audience strategy, and visual identity across platforms and touchpoints.

Website and Platform Project Management

  • Manage website and digital platform work as one component of a broader integrated digital practice.
  • Coordinate workflows between designers, engineers, content teams, strategists, clients, and freelancers.
  • Translate creative, strategic, and technical requirements into clear production plans for websites, landing pages, CMS builds, migrations, QA, and launch readiness.
  • Ensure that website planning is connected to communication strategy, content strategy, campaign planning, analytics, and ongoing platform management.
  • Lead QA processes across browsers, devices, CMS environments, content accuracy, performance, accessibility, and user experience.

Client and Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as a clear and organized day-to-day point of contact for clients, internal teams, and external collaborators.
  • Lead client meetings with prepared agendas, documented decisions, clear follow-ups, and realistic next steps.
  • Translate client feedback into actionable tasks without losing strategic intent or derailing timeline, scope, or budget.
  • Communicate risks, tradeoffs, dependencies, and recommendations with clarity and diplomacy.
  • Ensure Digital Counsel’s senior team has visibility into project status, client needs, blockers, and upcoming decisions.

Reporting, Process, and Quality Control

  • Coordinate reporting workflows across analytics, social media, paid media, web performance, campaign outcomes, and client-facing insights.
  • Ensure reporting is planned as part of the project from the beginning, not treated as an afterthought.
  • Maintain project management systems, documentation, timelines, budgets, scopes, and resourcing plans.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet Digital Counsel’s standards for quality, clarity, craft, strategic alignment, and cultural relevance.
  • Help improve internal processes so projects are set up clearly, managed consistently, and handed off cleanly.

Who You Are

  • A senior-level project manager with experience across digital strategy, creative production, marketing campaigns, content, social media, and web.
  • Someone who understands that project management begins with a strong brief, not just a task list.
  • Comfortable moving between strategy, creative, content, social, paid media, analytics, and technical production.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and rigorous about documentation, next steps, ownership, and follow-through.
  • Skilled at setting up internal systems that make work easier for the full team, not just one workstream.
  • Able to manage engineers and technical teams, but not limited to engineering or web development workflows.
  • Confident leading internal meetings, client meetings, stakeholder check-ins, and production reviews.
  • Detail-oriented without losing sight of the larger message, audience, and client positioning.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving creative agency environment where multiple workstreams often happen at the same time.
  • Clear, calm, direct, and diplomatic in communication.

Qualifications

  • 5-8\+ years of project management experience in a digital, marketing, or cultural agency environment.
  • Proven experience managing integrated digital projects across strategy, creative, content, social media, paid media, web, and reporting.
  • Experience creating project briefs, scopes, timelines, workbacks, meeting agendas, recaps, status reports, and handoff documentation.
  • Strong understanding of how digital campaigns are planned, produced, launched, reported on, and optimized.
  • Experience working with designers, engineers, strategists, copywriters, social media managers, content producers, analysts, vendors, and clients.
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms, website production, QA, launch processes, and digital platform management.
  • Familiarity with social media production, paid media workflows, editorial calendars, campaign planning, and analytics/reporting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in art, culture, media, nonprofits, foundations, or mission-driven organizations strongly preferred.
