SUMMARY

Responsible for the development of new and innovative formulations based on benchmark products, customer briefs, or conceptual direction. This role also involves improving existing formulations and processes, as well as reformulating client-provided products to align with internal manufacturing standards and processing capabilities.

• Conduct research and develop innovative cosmetic formulations aligned with current market trends, competitive benchmark products, customer requirements, or conceptual product ideas
• Reverse engineer commercially available products for formulation understanding and replication purposes
• Develop and prepare formulation submissions for new product concepts
• Support evaluation, testing, and approval of raw materials, in-process materials, finished goods, and production samples
• Collaborate and communicate regularly with cross-functional teams including Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Production, Customer Service, and other departments to ensure consistent production of high-quality finished goods
• Perform process development and scale-up activities from laboratory to production environments
• Modify and optimize existing formulations and procedures to meet internal operational requirements
• Maintain and ensure the integrity, stability, and quality of customer formulations throughout development and production processes
• Assist in diagnosing and resolving production-related issues and formulation challenges
• Stay current with emerging technologies, raw materials, and industry innovations through supplier engagement, vendor meetings, and professional seminars
• Oversee and monitor initial production batches (first three runs) to ensure formulation integrity and process consistency
• Participate in customer meetings when required and at the discretion of the R\&D Manager or Senior Chemist
• Research and understand the functional role and interaction of each ingredient within a formulation system
• Ensure adherence to company policies, internal quality standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and all applicable safety and environmental regulations
• Participate in required safety training, GMP training, and other company-directed development programs

REQUIRED EDUCATION \& EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline
• Minimum of three (3) years of laboratory experience

PREFERRED EDUCATION \& EXPERIENCE

• At least three (3) years of product development (innovation) experience strongly preferred
