Senior Rust Developer (Trading Systems)

About the Role

Our client is a fast-growing fintech is scaling the engineering team behind its institutional trading platform. We're looking for a senior Rust engineer to take ownership of critical backend infrastructure and help shape how the platform performs at scale.

What You'll Do

1. Design and build the architecture of mission-critical platform services, using Rust as the primary language
2. Own the reliability and efficiency of data pipelines that directly support revenue-generating operations, balancing performance against infrastructure cost
3. Identify bottlenecks and lead performance-tuning initiatives across backend systems, enabling the team to ship improvements quickly
4. Partner with product managers and platform engineers to keep the system resilient, easy to scale, and transparent to monitor in production

What We're Looking For

1. Deep, hands-on Rust expertise, ideally with real production systems running at scale — not just side projects
2. Strong grounding in core CS topics: operating systems, network programming, concurrent/parallel processing, and algorithmic problem-solving
3. A bachelor's degree (or higher) in a quantitative or technical discipline — Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or similar
4. A track record of building distributed or microservice-based systems where uptime and horizontal scale were key design constraints
5. Comfort working within Rust's async ecosystem — think Tokio or async-std for runtimes, plus common tooling like Actix, Axum, Serde, and Cargo
6. Practical exposure to at least a few of: in-memory caching layers (Redis-style), event/message brokers (Kafka-style), or stream-processing frameworks (Flink-style)
7. Experience diagnosing production issues through profiling and monitoring, with a habit of building systems that are observable by design
8. A genuine sense of ownership and craftsmanship — someone who cares about code quality even when no one's checking
