About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Software Developer to design, build, and maintain Alden One, a mature, business-critical asset platform used by utility and communications companies. This role is ideal for someone who produces dependable technical work, applies sound judgment to design decisions, and takes a disciplined approach to code quality, troubleshooting, and delivery. You will work across the full stack and the full development lifecycle, from database to user interface and from design to production support, while helping uphold and improve engineering standards and supporting the broader team through technical review and collaboration. We are an Agile shop, planning and delivering work in sprints tracked in Azure DevOps.
What You'll Work On
A mature, metadata-driven asset platform: a large .NET Framework core (WCF services, distributed transactions, and a workflow/state-machine engine) alongside newer .NET 8 services and an Angular front end
SQL Server as a first-class codebase: a large stored-procedure layer, versioned database migrations, and performance work measured in execution plans and reads
Integrations and scheduled jobs: utility data exchanges, file-based import and export, and payment processing and payouts through Stripe
Identity and multi-tenant security: OAuth2/OpenID Connect, with data and permissions scoped by company
Geospatial asset data such as parcels, polygons, and structure locations
Getting changes to production safely: repeatable deployment scripts, runbooks, and rollback plans across test, UAT, and production environments
Core Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain software applications using C#/.NET, SQL Server, and Angular/TypeScript
Write clean, testable, maintainable code that aligns with established engineering standards and development practices
Lead and contribute to technical design and architecture discussions, offering practical solutions grounded in system requirements
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues by tracing logs, data, and code back to the root cause, with attention to long-term stability
Review code and provide technical guidance to other engineers to support quality and consistency across the codebase
Collaborate with cross-functional partners to clarify requirements, plan delivery, and support successful implementation
Work alongside QA throughout development, making changes easy to test and responding promptly to the defects and feedback they raise
Contribute to deployment and development workflows, including source control, work tracking, CI/CD, and database deployments that are safe to re-run and roll back
Write and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and design records for the systems you work on
Take part in monthly after-hours production deployments: deploying, verifying, and resolving issues during the release window
Required Skills \& Abilities
Strong proficiency in C#/.NET development, including .NET Framework 4\.x in a large existing codebase as well as modern .NET
Strong experience with SQL Server and T-SQL, including stored procedures, relational database design, indexing, query performance tuning, and versioned schema migrations
Solid knowledge of TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and a modern web framework (Angular strongly preferred)
Understanding of software design patterns and object-oriented development principles
Ability to work through technical problems with care, consistency, and attention to downstream impact
Comfort working within established standards and quality practices, and in a mature codebase where you will learn as much from reading code as from documentation
Ability to balance independent technical execution with steady collaboration across teams
Experience working on an Agile team, and openness to feedback from QA and code review
Clear communication skills for technical discussions, code review, and delivery coordination
Other Requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
5\+ years of professional software development experience, primarily in C#/.NET and SQL Server
U.S. citizenship required
Availability for monthly after-hours production deployments
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with cloud platforms, especially Azure
Experience with Azure DevOps, including CI/CD pipelines, Git and TFVC source control, and work tracking
Experience using AI coding assistants in daily development, with the judgment to review and verify what they produce
Experience with WCF, distributed transactions (MSDTC), or message queuing such as RabbitMQ
Experience with OAuth2/OpenID Connect, IdentityServer, or Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
Experience integrating payment platforms such as Stripe
Experience with geospatial data (GIS, SQL Server spatial types, GeoJSON)
Experience with automated testing, including unit tests and end-to-end tools such as Playwright
Background in utilities, telecommunications, joint use, or asset management
How Success Is Measured
Success in this role may be measured by on-time delivery against committed milestones, strong code quality, and low post-release defect rates, along with deployments that go out cleanly and production issues that stay fixed
