The Role

The team is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to help build and scale the backend systems powering document verification and fraud detection products. This engineer will work on high-throughput microservices, APIs, and backend pipelines that support millions of identity verification requests globally.

You'll collaborate closely with Product, Infrastructure, Data Science, and Machine Learning teams to design scalable backend architecture and integrate ML-driven verification capabilities into production systems.

What You'll Be Doing

• Build and maintain scalable backend services and APIs for document verification workflows
• Design and develop high-availability microservices handling large-scale transaction volumes
• Partner cross-functionally with Product, ML, and Infrastructure teams to launch new features
• Improve backend reliability, security, testing coverage, and CI/CD practices
• Optimize system performance, scalability, and latency using production metrics and monitoring data
• Help integrate machine learning and computer vision components into backend services
• Work closely with frontend and mobile engineers to create seamless API integrations
• Contribute to architecture discussions around distributed systems, secure data handling, and best engineering practices

What They're Looking For

• 5\+ years of backend engineering experience building distributed systems at scale
• Strong experience with Golang and backend API development
• Hands-on experience building RESTful APIs and/or gRPC services
• Deep understanding of scalable microservice architecture and cloud-native systems
• Experience with performance optimization, low-latency systems, and backend security best practices
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across engineering, product, and data teams

Nice to Have

• Experience within identity verification, fraud prevention, fintech, or security-focused products
• Exposure to machine learning or computer vision integrations (OCR, face matching, fraud scoring, etc.)
• Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, or Spark
• Familiarity working with high-volume data pipelines and event-driven systems
