Senior Staff Engineer - Mobile/Kotlin (REMOTE)

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Staff Engineer - Mobile/Kotlin (REMOTE) to join the team of a leader in the Retail \& Consumer Goods space.

This role will shape the mobile engineering direction for a high-growth consumer brand, with a focus on building scalable Android experiences and strengthening the technical foundation behind customer-facing apps. The position will influence architecture, platform strategy, and execution across product, design, and engineering teams. You will also help drive reliability, code quality, and technical alignment in a fast-paced environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $163,000 – $265,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Develop a deep understanding of the industry and product to influence team strategy
• Lead technical execution of complex features from ideation to deployment
• Define and enforce engineering principles and best practices
• Drive Android platform decisions to enhance the mobile apps
• Collaborate with product and design teams for impactful technical decisions
• Facilitate cross-team sharing of best practices and code
• Lead incident resolution during on-call rotations
• Identify and remove project roadblocks through collaboration
• Conduct code reviews to enhance quality and share expertise
• Steer planning and design discussions with innovative solutions
• Champion improvements in software quality and team documentation
• Mentor engineers to foster a culture of continuous learning

Qualifications

• 10\+ years of experience building scalable Android apps, with expertise in Kotlin Multiplatform and Compose Multiplatform
• Proven ability to mentor and drive consensus on coding and architectural strategies
• Systems-level knowledge of backend client APIs and client-supporting systems in Marketing and Analytics
• Familiarity with observability practices like logging, monitoring, and tracing in native apps
• Strong communication skills for conveying complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
• Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to achieving goals
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with shifting priorities
