Job Title: Software Developer \| Remote \| Hiring Immediately
Job Type: Contract, full-time, remote (US time zones)
Pay: $500 per month to start, plus POTENTIAL founding equity options. Compensation to be reviewed after launch
Full Job Description
We launch in Florida in 2 to 3 weeks, sooner if we can. We need a developer who can start now and help us get there.
Help After Accident is building the app that takes an injured person from the accident scene to the right personal injury attorney and the right treating doctor, fast. One intake, one journey, everyone connected. The patient never pays.
Today, after a crash, patients, doctors and lawyers are still chasing calls, texts, paperwork and each other. You know where your Uber is. You know where your Amazon package is. You should know where your recovery is. We are fixing that, and we are doing it now.
We have already coordinated thousands of recoveries by hand. Now we are turning what works into software and putting it in front of Florida patients, law firms and medical providers. The clock is running, the market is waiting, and every day without the product is a day people go without help.
Why This Role Is Urgent
Launch is 2 to 3 weeks out. Your first features go live with real users almost right away.
We are interviewing now and want our hire working within days of an offer. This is not a role that will sit open. When we find the right person, we close it. If you can start this week, say so in your application.
What You Will Do
- Build and ship the core app end to end: patient intake, matching, scheduling and case status.
- Take features from idea to production in days, not sprints.
- Make architecture calls you can defend, and document them so new engineers can onboard fast.
- Build APIs and integrations with law firm and medical practice systems.
- Use AI and automation where it saves real time for patients and staff.
- Keep patient data secure and private from day one.
- Fix what is broken, own what you ship and say plainly when something is behind.
- Join a short daily standup and report progress, blockers and next steps.
What You Bring
· Proven full-stack experience with a modern front end and back end.
· Real experience building and consuming APIs and real-time workflows.
· Comfort with cloud infrastructure, databases and secure, scalable design.
· Experience with AI tools or automation is a strong plus.
· A track record of shipping without a large team or perfect requirements.
· Clear written and spoken English and reliable availability during US business hours.
· Work samples, a portfolio or a GitHub you can walk us through.
We care less about your exact tech stack and more about whether you can build and ship.
Compensation, Spelled Out
· Starting pay: $500 per month, paid monthly as a contractor.
· Prove-it period: the first 45 to 60 days are a prove-it period for both sides. Either side can end the arrangement at any time.
· Compensation review: once the product launches, we review your pay based on what you delivered.
· Founding equity: you may receive founding equity options. Terms to be discussed after a successful launch.
We are honest about this: the starting pay is low because we are an early-stage startup putting every dollar into launch. The upside is real ownership in a company at the very start, a pay review tied to launch and a seat at the table while the product is built.
What This Job Is Like
· This is startup life. Full-time, all in and fast. Weekends are required until the product launches.
· You work directly with leadership. No layers, no committees and no hiding behind tickets.
· You will not wait three days to solve a three-hour problem.
· You will have a real hand in what we build, how we build it and what this company becomes.
If you are looking for a 9 to 5 with weekends off, this is not the role.
How We Hire
- Apply on Indeed with your resume and a link to your work.
- A short intro call, usually within 48 hours of applying.
- A short technical exercise and a walkthrough of something you built.
- Final call with leadership and references.
- Offer in writing, with a start date within days.
Be ready to provide verifiable professional references. We verify who we hire, including identity, work authorization, work history and technical skills, using independent and, where appropriate, official verification services.
People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply.
If your experience is real, your skills are real and you want to build something that matters from the ground up, apply today. We are moving now.
Nobody owns recovery. We will.
Pay: From $500\.00 per month
People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply
Application Question(s):
- Which seat fits you best?
A: Founding Engineer (architecture, full stack, DevOps, production ownership).
B: Senior Full-Stack Product Engineer (React, TypeScript, APIs, UI and product decisions).
C: Senior Backend and Platform Engineer (APIs, PostgreSQL, auth, matching, integrations, queues, reliability)
- It is Monday morning. You inherit our existing codebase, AWS setup and database. We want to relaunch in 7 days and you trust nothing yet. What do you do in the first 4 hours, the first 24 hours and the first 72 hours? Be specific.
- Give us the high-level architecture for this flow: Accident, Opt-In, Intake, Match, Notify, Accept, Appointment, Messaging and Documents, Outcome. Cover the database, APIs, auth, events and queues, failures, retries, idempotency and monitoring. We care about how you think, not polish.
- It is 11:30 PM on launch night. Production is breaking and the engineer who built that part is not answering. Walk us through what you do. Then tell us about a real production fire you personally owned and how it ended.
- When can you start? Starting pay is $500 per month plus founding equity options, with a compensation review after launch. Does that work for you?
- How many hours can you commit in your first 7 days, and each week after? Weekends are required until launch.
- Are you ready to code every day, work outside your lane, push back on founders and engineers when they are wrong and stay in it when production breaks?
- If we make you an offer, will you complete our verification process, including identity, work authorization, professional reference checks and a live technical review?
- Tell us the hardest production system you personally built and owned. What did you build, what broke and what did you do about it?
Have you taken a product from zero to production?
Experience:
- Software development: 3 years (Preferred)
