Job Objectives
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to join our dynamic team at Nua Healthcare. The Speech and Language Therapy Assistant will work closely with their supervising CORU registered Speech and Language Therapist colleagues, along with other professionals in multidisciplinary teams, Individuals and their families and care/support staff across Nua, to establish a treatment programme/training/support to help each Individual communicate as effectively as possible.
This Will Include The Following On a Day-to-day Basis
- Facilitating therapy programme delivery/ co-facilitating/ leading therapy groups / un-der the direction and supervision of the SLT.
- Preparing treatment areas for individual or group therapy sessions including tidying area and storing away equipment used upon completion of the session.
- Observing the general performance, behaviour and ability of individuals during ther-apeutic interventions. Record and report these observations to the SLT.
- On instruction of the SLT document service user contacts/ interventions in the rele-vant service user file and as per the SLT department’s local policy.
- Liaise and communicate effectively with SLT and multi-disciplinary team members as appropriate to ensure co-ordinated intervention.
- Foster and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues.
- Carry out clinical administrative duties that supports the SLT Department in the deliv-ery of clinical services.
- Assist in the organisation, maintenance and/ or ordering of equipment and materials used in assessment and treatment, in conjunction with the SLTs.
- Develop therapy resources and materials under the direction of the SLT.
- Keep up-to-date statistics and other records as required within the SLT department.
- Maintain/ clean equipment and treatment areas, as requested.
- Contribute to the planning and development of the SLT service and participate in ser-vice improvements.

Skills Requirement
- Fetac Level 5 qualification (Speech and Language Therapy Assistant) or Relevant Qualification in the field of Health \& Social Care)
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a health setting with children and/or adults with dis-abilities
- Must have the personal competence and capacity to properly discharge the duties of the role.
- Experience of Lamh and other Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
- Own transport and full clean driving licence.
- Demonstration of strong IT skills including Microsoft suite and report creation
Knowledge
- Knowledge of standards and legislation relevant to the area.
Experience
- Prior minimum of 2 years previous experience within a similar service.
