About The Role
The Senior SQL Developer at Howard Center is a pivotal role responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining SQL-based reporting and data solutions that underpin daily operations, management insights, and regulatory compliance. Operating primarily within Microsoft SQL Server environments, this position supports both commercial off-the-shelf applications such as Credible and Methasoft, as well as internal data needs. The role offers a hybrid work schedule, with some days on-site in Burlington, VT, providing a balance of collaborative engagement and independent work. The Senior SQL Developer will collaborate closely with business and technical stakeholders to translate complex requirements into effective SQL solutions, ensuring data integrity, performance, and usability across the organization.
Qualifications
- An associate degree or equivalent professional experience in a related field.
- Minimum of five years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server in a production environment.
- Extensive experience supporting reporting and data operations using SQL-based approaches.
- Proficiency in developing and supporting SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
- Experience supporting vendor-provided enterprise applications and collaborating with internal stakeholders to meet data and reporting needs.
- Strong understanding of database performance optimization, reliability, and data integrity within SQL Server environments.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support SQL-based reporting solutions, including SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), operational reports, and data extracts to meet organizational needs.
- Develop and maintain complex SQL queries, views, and stored procedures that support reporting, data integration, and operational workflows.
- Partner with business and technical stakeholders to accurately interpret reporting and operational requirements, translating them into efficient SQL solutions.
- Support recurring and ad-hoc operational, management, and regulatory reporting to ensure compliance and timely delivery.
- Support limited Power BI use cases and contribute to the ongoing evolution of reporting and analytics capabilities within the organization.
- Develop and maintain custom data components, interfaces, and utilities that enhance reporting and operational workflows.
- Maintain existing SQL Server environments, focusing on database performance, reliability, and data integrity to support organizational needs.
