Sr. Applied Scientist

For our client, we are seeking a Sr. Applied Scientist to join the team of a leader in the Consumer Technology space. This role will lead work at the intersection of data, AI-enabled capabilities, and scalable technology delivery. You will partner with business, technical, and operational stakeholders to build reporting, surface trends, and translate analysis into action. The position offers the opportunity to strengthen data-driven execution and help teams focus on the metrics that matter most within a technology-driven environment.

Location: Seattle, WA - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $204,800 – $296,600 annually

Responsibilities

• Design and implement end-to-end training pipelines for improving image and video editing quality
• Lead core development in mid-training initiatives, aligned with team strategy
• Identify quality gaps in generative models and develop targeted mid-training solutions
• Develop scalable workflows for data quality improvement and training
• Enhance engineering efficiency by systematizing mid-training experimentation and deployment
• Collaborate with various teams to advance editing quality in multimodal outputs
• Mentor junior engineers to uplift the team's technical proficiency

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field preferred
• Proven track record in mid-training or continual pre-training of large-scale multimodal models, specifically across image and video data
• Deep understanding of pre-training, mid-training, and post-training processes for multimodal generative models
• Knowledge of modern diffusion-based architectures and techniques for precise editing control
• Strong expertise in Vision-Language Models (VLMs) and multimodal alignment strategies
• Ability to design scalable pipelines for data curation and distributed training
• Experience with optimizing model inference in high-throughput environments
