THE OPPORTUNITY:

Codaray Construction is looking for a Staff Accountant to own the general ledger and close our books accurately and on time, every month. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in precision and wants ownership over a real piece of the close — not just a seat in a large, siloed department.

You'll run the monthly close, reconcile cash and balance sheet accounts, review and release owner billings, maintain the work-in-progress schedule, and prepare internal financial statements. You'll also support our annual operating plan and monthly forecasting process, and serve as the Finance team's go-to person for the systems we run on every day.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Monthly Close \& General Ledger

Own the close checklist end to end, keeping Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and the full financial period on a dependable monthly schedule. Reconcile bank accounts and corporate card activity, review the trial balance, prepare correcting entries, and post recurring journal entries.

Financial Reporting \& Forecasting

Prepare our internal financial statements and reports for monthly management meetings. Roll forward the work-in-progress (WIP) schedule, analyze forecasts with Project Managers, and build presentation-quality Excel reporting that tells the story behind the numbers. Assist the Vice President of Finance with the annual operating plan and backlog projections.

Accounts Receivable \& Accounts Payable

Review and release owner invoices, reconcile the billing log to the general ledger, and follow up on aging receivables. Review and approve overhead bills, confirm correct coding, and back up the team during high-volume periods.

Fixed Assets \& Indirect Cost

Maintain the fixed asset records, capitalize new purchases, and post monthly depreciation. Allocate indirect equipment and overhead costs to projects.

Sales \& Use Tax

Prepare and file monthly state sales tax returns and schedule timely payments.

Systems

Maintain working knowledge of the accounting, ERP, and project management software Finance runs on, and serve as an internal resource who can troubleshoot routine issues and help teammates use these systems well.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

Required

• Bachelor's degree in accounting
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the ability to learn new software quickly
• Working proficiency with accounting and project management software
• An analytical mindset and strong problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet fixed monthly close deadlines
• The ability to communicate effectively across departments
• A true team player, willing to help with any task
• Confidentiality and trustworthiness
• A valid driver's license

Preferred

• Master of Professional Accountancy
• CPA license, or active CPA candidacy
• Prior public accounting experience
• Construction, engineering, or other project-based accounting experience
• Experience with ERP and construction project management software
