Staff Full Stack Software Engineer - DeFi WealthTech Startup

(Ideally 80% backend and 20% front end. Depending on your preference it could be anywhere from 50-100% backend)

Location: New York, NY (you can work from home 3x/week)

The company's product is at the intersection of decentralized finance (DeFi) and modern wealth tech.

The company has 8 employees and 4 engineers. It has raised seed funding and is expecting a larger round of seed funding soon.

In this position you would be one of the foundational members of the engineering team. You'll report directly to the Co-Founder/CTO and work on products that interact deeply with blockchain infrastructure, lending protocols, wallets, and cross-chain systems. As one of the company's earliest engineers, you'll have significant ownership over core product architecture and the opportunity to help shape the technical direction of the platform.

Job Responsibilities:

• Designing and building scalable backend services using TypeScript and Node.js.

• Developing systems that integrate with blockchain networks and DeFi protocols.

• Building and maintaining infrastructure for indexing blockchain data.

• Implementing integrations with lending protocols, including ERC-4626 vaults.

• Building features involving wallet creation, session keys, and account abstraction.

• Developing cross-chain functionality across multiple blockchain ecosystems.

• Collaborating on frontend features using React as needed.

• Writing high-quality, maintainable code while leveraging AI-assisted development tools to maximize productivity.

• Working closely with the Co-Founder/CTO on architecture and technical decisions.

Tech Stack:

• TypeScript

• Node.js

• Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

• React

• Solidity (limited usage, \<10%)

• Cloudflare

• TanStack

Qualifications:

• 5\+ years of professional software engineering experience.

• Strong backend engineering experience.

• Extensive hands-on experience building DeFi applications.

• Understanding of on-chain transactions, decentralized trading, lending protocols, wallet architecture, account abstraction, session keys, and cross-chain systems.

• Expert-level TypeScript skills (approximately 9/10 proficiency).

• Node.js experience.

• Experience using AI coding tools effectively to accelerate software development.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have:

• Experience with Solidity.

• Experience with React.

• Experience working with blockchain indexing.

• Experience building or integrating ERC-4626 vaults.

• Experience across Ethereum, Solana, or multiple blockchain ecosystems.
