The Role

You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post.

We are looking for a dynamic individual to complement our existing dedicated team of nursing staff who are committed to making change and undertaking improvement work. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who is committed to supporting the SCN with current developments in care delivery and who will act as a role model for new and junior colleagues. You will be expected to maintain expert professional practice through continuing education.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • An exciting Band 5 opportunity has arisen within ECMS at Inverclyde Royal Hospital
  • The shift pattern for this post is 12 hour shifts across days, nights and weekends

Key Responsibilities

  • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates programmes of care with reference to patients, without direct supervision
  • Co-ordinates the provision of seamless care for patients from admission/transfer to discharge by utilising efficient verbal and written communication practices with all members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team / Primary Care Services and Carers
  • Requires to take responsibility for a defined group of patients within clinical specialty
  • Provides teaching, guidance, supervision and support for unqualified staff and students where required
  • Assists the senior nurse in the development of ward/department based orientation and education programmes for newly qualified staff and student nurses
  • Ensure that all written documentation within the ward/department area is clear,concise, timely and complies with the NMC Standards for Records and Record Keeping
  • Reports all accidents/incidents/complaints involving patients, carers and staff to the senior nurse and commence enquiries or documentation as necessary

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • NMC Registration
  • Good communication practices
  • Good organisational skills
  • Able to work without direct supervision
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Effective decision making and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work flexible shift pattern
  • Internal Rotation to night duty
