The Superintendent is responsible for organizing and supervising all aspects of construction on projects and is accountable for ensuring compliance with construction documents, specifications, codes, schedules as well as controlling cost to ensure the project is constructed within the Budgets provided. The Superintendent must provide the necessary leadership to keep the day-to-day operations running smoothly on the project assigned, or their designated section of responsibility by establishing work tasks to be completed by subcontractors and their crews. This position reviews and controls labor and material costs associated with changes to the project scope and ensures that the work being done by subcontractors is accomplished at the lowest cost possible. The Project Superintendent ensures that all daily reports and other field documentation required for historical reference are accurate and input into the project management software. Continual inspection of the work being completed in accordance with the construction documents is required. This position creates daily progress reports and assists other departments in the preparation of reports concerning the status of fieldwork. The incumbent must demonstrate a proven ability to manage medium-to-large-sized projects with projected gross revenues ranging from $50 million to over $150 million.

Requirements

  • Normally requires a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field and 8\+ years of construction field experience.
  • Must be able to travel to and work at the project site, this travel may be up to 100%.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle for travel to project sites and client meetings

  • Function as the overall lead in the field depending on project size and project specific assignments.
  • Be responsible for safety procedures related to construction activities.
  • Work closely with subcontractors and/or crews to promote safety in all construction activities to ensure safe means and methods are in place to eliminate accidents.
  • Ensure the project is constructed in accordance with the contract documents, within the schedule, and at the lowest possible cost.
  • Develop and maintain positive work relationships with clients to ensure positive communication while addressing all concerns timely.
  • Develop relationships with subcontractors and/or crews to ensure a collaborative environment that allows for quick and open communication about project status, concerns and risks.
  • Coordinate and communicate all field activities with Engineering, Estimating, Purchasing, Project Management and Accounting Departments, as assigned within the project, allowing for expeditious completion of the project.
  • Assist all departments in preparation and updating of reports required to inform Region/Division management and the client of the project status.

The hiring/salary range for this position in California is $150,000 - $220,000 per year. Please note that this is a just a suggested framework and salaries could fall outside of this. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience amongst other factors.
