THE WORK

Lockheed Martins Fight Operations Support (FOS) mission operation’s team is seeking a highly skilled

Systems Engineering Manager with an active Secret clearance to work as FOS Factory Manager from our Sunnyvale, CA. location.

The Next Generation GEO (NGG) program modernizes the United States' geostationary defense satellite constellation, replacing legacy SBIRS assets with advanced infrared sensors, resilient communications, and autonomous on‑orbit servicing. NGG delivers enhanced missile warning, missile defense, and space situational awareness capabilities while improving survivability, scalability, and cost‑effectiveness across a 15‑year lifecycle.

In this role you will manage factory operations (Launch \& Sustainment) on a first of kind bus/payload and ground system ensuring successful execution on a Class-A program providing management oversight and leadership for technical planning and integration of Factory operations, including: vehicle and payload SOH trending and management, system change activity, anomaly response and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities Include

  • Employee management and planning: employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions.
  • Ensuring successful FOS operations by providing oversight for Factory and integration with external FOS teams.
  • Acting FOS Approval Board Co-Chair responsible for review and release of command product updates and on-orbit command activities
  • Rotating On-call support as Factory Manager Representative at Anomaly management meetings
  • Shift work as needed during launch rehearsals and Launch and Early Orbit execution
  • Provide program status reporting as requested
  • Provide active interface to OPS and Development customers
  • Provide Control Account Manager inputs and manage VEMO

Desired Skills

  • Systems Engineering/Mission Operation knowledge and experience inclusive of complete Space Vehicle lifecycle, as well as engineering processes and review knowledge
  • Familiarity with DoD program support
  • Demonstrated Program/Project Management and team leadership skills
  • Customer interface experience
  • Experience with Satellite Launch and Early Orbit Test activities
  • Familiarity with the A2100 Tech Refresh Satellite BUS
  • Experience in major acquisition programs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Broad experience of Systems Engineering/Integration life cycle process and tools
  • Proposal preparation
  • Knowledge of program management, finance, contracts, Earned Value Management (EVM) and demonstrated business insight

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong social skills, and ability to build consensus among peers while building solid relationships with team members, customers, and leadership
  • Ability to lead multi-functional teams and lead
