Job Description

We need a strong Proxy Product Owner who can sit between business stakeholders, technology teams, QA, architecture, and delivery leadership. This person must turn business needs into clear, executable requirements and help reduce ambiguity before work reaches engineering.

This is not a generic Scrum role. We need someone who understands technology enough to work with architects and developers, but also business enough to challenge unclear requirements, define acceptance criteria, and protect delivery flow.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with business stakeholders to clarify product, operational, regulatory, and customer needs.
  • Translate business needs into user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and delivery-ready requirements.
  • Support prioritization of backlog items based on business value, risk, urgency, and technical dependencies.
  • Act as day-to-day proxy for product stakeholders where direct access is limited.
  • Partner with engineering leads, architects, QA, DB, and DevOps to ensure requirements are feasible and testable.
  • Help manage rate changes, product updates, state-specific requirements, policy workflows, quoting, claims, customer, or agent-facing features.
  • Support UAT planning, defect triage, release readiness, and stakeholder communication.
  • Improve intake discipline so teams are not building from vague or incomplete requirements.

Must-have experience

  • 5\+ years as Product Owner, Technical Product Owner, Business Analyst, or Product Manager in software delivery.
  • Insurance, insurtech, fintech, banking, or regulated industry experience.
  • Experience working with .NET/Azure or enterprise software teams.
  • Strong ability to write clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and business process documentation.
  • Experience working with distributed engineering teams.
  • Ability to challenge stakeholders constructively and drive decisions.
  • Strong communication skills in high-pressure environments.

Nice to have

  • Experience with policy administration, quoting, pricing/rating, underwriting, claims, billing, or customer service platforms.
  • Azure DevOps / Jira experience.
  • Experience with Agile delivery, release planning, and QA coordination.
  • Experience working with APIs, data flows, integrations, or enterprise platforms.
