Organizational Relationship
or Line of Authority:
Directly responsible to the Principal. Jointly responsible to appropriate Curriculum Supervisor.
This program is designed to strengthen Science skills, promote problem-solving, and build student confidence through targeted instruction aligned to grade-level standards. Responsibilities: Provide small-group Science enrichment instruction for identified students Reinforce key Scientific concepts and skills through engaging, standards-aligned activities. Use formative assessments to guide instruction and monitor student progress. Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff as needed Qualifications: Massachusetts licensed educator. Experience working with middle school student. Familiarity with standards-based instruction and intervention strategies. Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills Preferred: Experience with Title I programming or targeted academic support Knowledge of data-informed instruction.
Statement of Duties:
- Provides small group instruction.
- Participates in co-planning sessions.
- Works with other support specialists to collect and/or disseminate student assessment information.
- The Tutor is expected to diagnose student weaknesses and develop IEP Goals.
- Responsible for instructional and general duties as indicated by the Curriculum Supervisors, and directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee, and policies of the Haverhill School Committee.
Qualifications:
- Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education required.
- Knowledge of middle school philosophy, organization, and curriculum.
- Understanding of the middle school student and his/her early adolescent needs.
- Knowledge of recommended middle school instructional practices.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
