Job Description
Our client is seeking a skilled
Tooling Engineer
to support the development, design, and optimization of tooling systems used in a high-performance manufacturing environment. This position serves as a critical link between engineering, manufacturing, and production teams by transforming product designs into efficient, manufacturable solutions.
The ideal candidate will have experience with tooling design, CAD modeling, manufacturing processes, and problem-solving within a production environment. This individual will help drive improvements in tooling performance, product quality, and manufacturing efficiency while supporting new product launches and ongoing production needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and improve tooling systems to support manufacturing requirements.
- Translate customer and engineering designs into functional tooling solutions.
- Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to improve product quality, efficiency, and production outcomes.
- Create and modify 3D CAD models using Solid Edge and other CAD platforms.
- Analyze tooling designs and manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support simulation and analysis activities, including learning and utilizing casting simulation software.
- Perform reverse engineering activities using scanning technologies and measurement equipment to recreate or enhance existing tooling.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, production teams, and outside vendors to ensure tooling is built, maintained, and optimized.
- Troubleshoot tooling issues and assist with continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications \& Requirements:
- Experience in tooling design, manufacturing engineering, or a related technical role.
- Strong understanding of 3D CAD modeling and the ability to work with various file formats.
- Experience with manufacturing processes, CNC machining, and tooling development.
- Knowledge of casting processes, metallurgy, or related manufacturing disciplines is preferred.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement solutions.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, production, and vendor teams.
Preferred Experience:
- Solid Edge CAD experience preferred.
- GibbsCAM programming experience preferred.
- Experience with casting simulation software such as MAGMA is a plus; candidates must have the ability and willingness to learn.
