Position:
The Vice President, Controller will report to and partner with the Chief Accounting Officer, a prior Big 4 Senior Manager who is a meaningful, respected leader in the company. This person will lead and oversee a 25\+ person team comprised of technical accounting, financial reporting, SEC filings, acquisition/disposition matters, treasury as well as corporate and operational/property accounting. This senior-level role requires a strategic, hands-on leader with deep technical expertise, strong business acumen, and a proven track record in developing, and leading high-performing accounting teams. This position will have valuable exposure to all areas of the organization, including interaction with the CEO and CFO, both of whom are strong mentors / leaders. This person will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a highly successful, outstanding organization.
Qualifications:
- BS in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
- Prior real estate experience strongly preferred.
- Minimum 12 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally a blend of Big 4 and/or corporate accounting with real estate or related industry experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in technical accounting, financial reporting, and GAAP.
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting controls, systems, processes, and internal controls.
- Direct experience with complex financial transactions such as purchase price accounting, consolidation, and lease accounting.
- Proven executive‑level leadership experience with the ability to develop talent, drive accountability, and build strong, collaborative relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex issues to both financial and non‑financial audiences.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
Compensation:
Excellent compensation program which will include base salary, annual incentive bonus and significant equity participation. If necessary, relocation will be provided.
