Job Description
The Vice President, Corporate Controller is a senior finance executive responsible for leading accounting, financial reporting, and internal control functions of a mid-size publicly traded manufacturing organization. As a key member of the executive leadership team, this role ensures the integrity of financial information, compliance with SEC and SOX requirements, and alignment of accounting operations with the company’s strategic objectives. The VP, Corporate Controller partners closely with the CFO, Board of Directors, Audit Committee, and operational leadership to drive financial excellence, scalable infrastructure, and disciplined growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the senior accounting executive for the organization, advising the CFO, CEO, and Board on technical accounting matters, financial reporting risks, and regulatory compliance.
- Provide strategic oversight of accounting policies, financial governance, and risk management frameworks.
- Support capital markets activities, investor communications, and Board presentations as needed.
- SEC Reporting and Regulatory Compliance
- Oversee preparation and timely filing of all SEC reports including 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, proxy statements, and earnings releases.
- Ensure full compliance with US GAAP, SEC regulations, and evolving public company standards.
- Serve as primary liaison with external auditors and manage the annual audit process.
- Provide leadership across general ledger, cost accounting, revenue recognition, inventory accounting, fixed assets, lease accounting, consolidations, and technical accounting.
- Oversee multi-entity and multi-location consolidations, including international operations where applicable.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Drive standardization and centralization of accounting processes where appropriate.
- Partner with operations leadership to enhance cost accounting processes, inventory controls, margin visibility, and manufacturing performance analytics.
- Oversee standard costing methodology, variance analysis, overhead allocation, and inventory valuation practices.
- Support operational initiatives to improve profitability and working capital management.
- Design and maintain a robust internal control environment that safeguards company assets and ensures financial integrity.
- Partner with internal audit and risk management teams to assess and mitigate financial and operational risks.
- Present control findings and remediation plans to executive leadership and the Audit Committee.
- Provide executive oversight of ERP systems and financial technology platforms.
- Lead system upgrades, integrations, and digital transformation initiatives within finance.
- Drive automation and continuous improvement to enhance reporting speed, transparency, and scalability.
- Develop succession planning, leadership capability, and technical depth within the finance team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, operational partnership, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required;
CPA required.
- 12\+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant public company leadership experience.
- Extensive knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and SOX compliance.
- Strong background in manufacturing environments with deep cost accounting expertise.
- Experience engaging with Boards and Audit Committees.
- Demonstrated success leading large, multi-level accounting teams.
- Experience with major ERP systems and financial system transformations.
