VP of Engineering – Renewable Energy (Solar \+ Storage)

A leading energy EPC firm is looking for a

Vice President of Engineering

to lead technical strategy and execution across its growing portfolio of solar and BESS projects.

This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing engineering design, establishing standards and workflows, and ensuring high-quality execution across utility-scale and commercial \& industrial projects. The position offers the opportunity to shape engineering operations within a fast-growing, technically driven organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop engineering teams across PV, BESS, and electrical design functions
• Oversee the full engineering lifecycle from early-stage design through construction and commissioning support
• Establish and improve engineering standards, QA/QC processes, and design workflows
• Provide technical leadership on

medium-voltage systems, substations, and utility interconnection

• Partner closely with project management, construction, and leadership teams to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and buildable
• Support business development and preconstruction efforts through technical input, system design, and risk evaluation
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, utility requirements, and industry standards

Ideal Background:

• Strong experience in

solar PV and battery storage engineering

, ideally across both utility-scale and C\&I projects

• Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and multiple projects simultaneously
• Experience supporting interconnection processes and working with utilities
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced EPC or engineering-driven environment

Additional Details:

• Location: Chicago, IL or St. Louis, MO
• Compensation: $140,000 – $180,000 base \+ bonus and profit sharing
