The School of Engineering and Computer Science
at Elizabethtown College invites applications for a
Visiting Assistant or Associate Professor of Engineering (Electrical emphasis)
for an in-person, one-year appointment beginning August 2026\.
We seek a faculty member passionate about undergraduate engineering education to join our collaborative and nationally recognized program.
This role offers the opportunity to make an immediate and meaningful impact in a highly engaged, student-centered environment. The successful candidate will teach introductory
Circuits and associated labs
in the fall semester, and in the spring will teach a combination of
one to two upper-level electrical engineering courses
(which may include Electronics with lab and/or Electromagnetism), along with potential involvement in
capstone or community-based design teams
.
The Visiting Professor will work closely with a supportive faculty team committed to innovative, hands-on learning. This position is well-suited for candidates who value teaching excellence, enjoy working directly with undergraduate students, and are interested in building a strong record of teaching in a collaborative and forward-looking program.
The School of Engineering and Computer Science offers a multidisciplinary Engineering program with nine concentrations and is nationally recognized for its
mastery-based pedagogy
and active engagement with ASEE and the Kern Entrepreneurial Engineering Network (KEEN). Recently ranked in the top 20% of undergraduate-focused engineering programs nationwide (#46 tie) by U.S. News \& World Report, the program continues to grow in reputation for producing technically strong, socially responsible, and entrepreneurially minded graduates.
Candidates able to cover the required courses with background in related fields—including computer, materials, mechatronics, biomedical, robotics, engineering physics, or aerospace engineering—are encouraged to apply.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field (completed by August 2026)
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching
- Ability to teach Circuits and associated laboratories
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to collaboration
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, and support undergraduate students
- Experience with active learning, project-based learning, or other evidence-based teaching practices (including engagement with KEEN or ASEE)
- A multidisciplinary background enabling coverage of multiple engineering courses
- Please note Elizabethtown College will not provide visa sponsorship for this position, as it is a non-tenure-track appointment.
Job Duties
- Typical load: 12-15 contact hours per week, including class sessions, labs, and project supervision.
- Teach introductory Circuits and labs, along with one to two upper-level electrical engineering courses
- Contribute to capstone or community-based design experiences
- Participate in departmental and School activities, including ABET-related efforts
- Contribute to ECS’s collaborative and innovative teaching culture
